Fusion went 2-1 in pool play on Friday afternoon, taking on Minnesota Sting, Minnesota Wolverines, and Osceola, MN.

Saturday’s play was single-elimination and started with the Fusion again facing Osceola, winning 8-0. The next match-up was with a very good Metro Krush team, which moves up to 16U as of January 1. This game went into two extra innings/international tie breaker, with Fusion coming out on top 10 – 8.
With the championship game “on hold” until the Fusion/Krush game was finished, the team went right into another game against Altoona/Prior Lake, Minnesota. Unfortunately, the Fusion bats were not answering the call and Altoona/Prior Lake took the championship 4 – 0.

Coach Devin Caress noted “This was a great time for our players. We have a couple of new players (Mattie and Jess) and this helped bring them into the fold. We had some big highlights, with Carly P. and Hanna C. both batting over .400 for the tournament. Haley C. brought around a couple of huge hits, including a game-winning triple in game 5 and was very solid behind the plate. Mik Z. played an error-free tournament at third and pitched us out of some key situations. We had great pitching from all four pitchers (Jess, Syd R., Katie, and Mik) and an outstanding outfield in Jordan, Mattie, Syd S., Carly, and Hanna. All of the girls played very well. It looks very promising for our spring/summer season.”
Fusion – Orange will be back in action February 28 – March 1 in Omaha, Nebraska, for a USSSA qualifier against teams from South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas.
