South Dakota Fusion Black: City Tournament Champions (Continued)

South Dakota Fusion Black was crowned champions of the Sioux Empire Fastpitch Softball Association 14u Competitive Division Sunday July 13th.

Fusion Black finished ahead of the other 12 teams competing in league play. Fusion Black went 2-0 and allowed no runs Saturday to advance quickly through bracket play, then squeaked out a win against Vermillion Sunday morning, before sending the only other undefeated team, the Sioux Falls Heat, to the losers bracket. The Heat battled their way back to the championship game where Fusion Black , who would have to be beaten twice, jumped to an early game 1 lead and went on to the win to seal the championship. Fusion Highlights: Allie Daly, Brooklyn Reilly, and Chelsie Wallace each had two hits. Kiely Bren and Chelsie Wallace had triples. Kayla Schroeder and Laura Hurley pitched a no hit shutout.

Fusion Highlights: Chelsie Wallace had two hits. Laura Hurley and Emily Nichols had triples. Laura Hurley got the win. Emily Nichols struck out five in two innings in relief.

Fusion Highlights: Kiely Bren and Maggie Loudenslager had three hits. Kiely had a double and triple while Maggie added a triple. Laura Hurley and Maggie each had three RBIs. Emily Nichols threw a complete game while striking out 7.

Fusion Black would like to congratulate all the Fusion teams, all who finished in the top 3 in the city as younger teams in their respectiver divisions.

Fusion Black begtins play in the South Dakota State Tournament Friday, July 18th and leaves for thier final tournament of the season, the USSSA B Nationals in Overland Park Kansas on Monday, July 21st.
